Winter 2015-2016 has begun! Here are our predictions:
Overall, expect averages; a winter a little warmer than the last two but still with its chilly periods. Precipitation will be well above normal all winter, leading to our prediction for average to above average snow.
December will probably be very warm and mostly snowless, so a White Christmas seems like an unlikely prospect. January will be a fair bit colder with some snow chances, but winter might take until February to arrive in force. Although we might go a long time without any meaningful snow, February should make up for it, with a good chance for a big snowstorm comparable to Snowmaggedon 2010. (If a normal winter has a 15% chance, this winter has a 50% chance). Even without that, the snow this winter is more likely to be concentrated in a few larger storms towards the end of winter.
Just for fun, we’d guess there will be about 6 snow days this winter, compared with 7 last year and the average of 4.5
