Green and blue confetti rained down after one of the biggest games in America, the Super Bowl, which took place Feb. 8, 2026 in Santa Clara, California. Super Bowl LX was between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, with the Seahawks dominating for most of the game, eventually bringing home the Lombardi Trophy.
The excitement and debate leading up to the Super Bowl was higher than the aftermath. Although Seahawks fans were ecstatic about the win, both them and others found the game to be quite dull. “I don’t think either team played their best, and therefore, it was a very low-scoring game and boring for the most part,” junior Chris Petros said. Petros is a Patriots fan because his grandpa grew up as a fan while living in Boston, and his dad was also a fan who grew up in Connecticut.
“Although the game was not as exciting as I hoped, I still enjoyed it a lot because after years of treachery watching this team, I finally got to see my team win,” junior Tui Eversley said. Eversley is a long time fan of the Seahawks as she lived in Seattle for a year when she was 4 years old.

Both Petros and Eversley found Bad Bunny’s halftime show to be pleasant. One of Petros’ favorite inclusions in the show was the wedding. A couple invited Bad Bunny to their wedding and instead of attending their ceremony, he extended his own invitation to get married during his halftime show. It was considered a very kind and memorable gesture to many.
Eversley is half Panamanian and found the show to be one of the best performances in Super Bowl history. “I felt really connected to my culture and I didn’t agree with the controversy behind it because it was truly great and had an amazing message,” Eversley said. There was controversy over Bad Bunny being the performer, as some critics were upset over the majority of the performance being in Spanish and being more in relation to South and Central American identities. These criticisms have been rebutted by people explaining how Puerto Rico is still a part of America and it is important for there to be multiple forms of representation for Latino culture at a popular event.
The game moved at a slow pace as the first three quarters were mostly defensive. The rookie quarterback for New England, Drake Maye, was sacked 5 times. During the first three quarters, there were no touchdowns scored by either team and the Patriots were unable to put any points on the board at all. Seattle’s 12 points were all the results of field goals.
More action came in the fourth quarter. There seemed to be a turning point after Seattle cornerback Josh Jobe threw a punch at New England’s wide receiver Steffon Diggs after some taunting by Diggs. After this incident the Patriots finally gained some momentum to score, with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to compete with the Seahawks’ commanding lead.
With a final score of 29-13, the Seahawks got their first Super Bowl win since 2014. Seattle running back Kenneth Walker III was named MVP, after rushing for 135 yards. “It may not have been the most eventful game, but that night single-handedly made up for all the rough seasons,” Eversley said.
