The TidePod, which was started in early 2019, is currently in its seventh season. Graphic designed by Valerie Wang.

In this episode of the TidePod, we discuss the current MCPS semester grade rounding system. Introduced in the 2016-2017 school year, the current system functions by students receiving two different letter grades in both quarters of a semester. MCPS will then take the higher letter grade for the overall semester grade. Listen to the group discuss this current semester’s grade rounding system and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of this policy. At the end of the discussion, we give our opinions on the system’s future and provide some ideas for improvement.

Senior Ria Maheshwary is in her third year on the Tide, and second year as an Opinions Editor. She’s excited to continue covering issues in the RM community as well as relevant and controversial global happenings. In her free time, Ria loves dancing, cooking, and rewatching FRIENDS.

Ari Fine, Editor-in-Chief

Senior Ari Fine is in his fourth year on The Tide and very excited to be Editor-in-Chief this year. Ari previously served as Sports Editor and hopes to bring the same creativity into his role this year as EIC. In his free time, Ari enjoys going on runs and playing lacrosse with friends.

Ella Sapper, Social Media Editor

Senior Ella Sapper is excited to be the Social Media Editor of The Tide. This is her second year on The Tide, after writing for the Opinions section. Outside of The Tide, she is part of the cheerleading team and also enjoys spending time with friends.

Aditi Iyer, Opinions Editor

Aditi Iyer is currently a sophomore at RM and is joining the Tide for the second year as a section editor for Opinions! In her role, Aditi is excited to help create important, relevant and impacting articles and editorials for the rest of the student body. When not at school or writing, she is either reading murder mysteries, watching X-files, drawing or listening to music.

Valerie Wang, Graphics Editor

Valerie Wang is so excited to be finishing up her last year at Richard Montgomery as the editor for the graphics section! Outside of working on the Tide for the past four years, you can also find her prepping for her next debate tournament, creating art, or dancing.
