Four restaurants for a special Thanksgiving night
Trying to avoid the hassle of making a Thanksgiving meal this year? Cooking not one of your strengths? Here are four restaurants in the Montgomery County area that are open on Turkey Day!
Amici Miei
Amici Miei is a family owned Italian restaurant with a new location in the Rockville Town Center. Not only are they open this Thanksgiving, but they will also be offering a Thanksgiving special. For $24.95, Amici Miei serves a traditional Thanksgiving feast complete with tender roasted turkey, warm garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes. Aside from their special, they also serve traditional Italian cuisines such as cheesy oven-baked pizza, thick and creamy plates of pasta, and soups, salads and sides. Amici Miei’s head chef is from northern Italy, so count on an authentic Tuscan meal. For dessert, Amici Miei serves sweet, creamy and chocolaty favorites, tiramisu and cannolis.
Founding Farmers
Founding Farmers, a MoCo classic, is also open this Thanksgiving! With vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, this farm-to-table restaurant guarantees a meal for everyone in the family. A customer favorite is the chicken and waffles. Half of a toasty Belgian waffle is placed underneath the crunchy yet tender fried chicken and accompanied with fresh green beans and warm mac and cheese. Drizzled with sweet syrup, the chicken and waffles are sure to bring feelings of warmth and comfort with each bite. For the vegetarians and vegans, a popular choice is the “IMPOSSIBLE Burger.” This burger, which is entirely plant-based, is made to taste just like meat. The burger is placed on a soft bun that was freshly baked in their bakery, and the dish comes with a side of chips or fries. A taste of Thanksgiving can be found in their menu as well in their a turkey, gruyère and honey mustard sandwich that is sure to satisfy any turkey cravings.
The Tower Oaks Lodge
If you’re looking for a gorgeous, classic and cozy Thanksgiving, look no further than the Tower Oaks Lodge. They are well known for the Thanksgiving feast they serve every year. For $28.99, The Lodge serves a moist and tender turkey dinner, complete with glazed sweet potatoes, crunchy green beans, thick and creamy gravy, sausage-sage stuffing and buttery mashed potatoes. The meal comes to a grand finale with the choice of pecan or pumpkin pie à la mode. If their classic Thanksgiving meal isn’t reason enough to visit, The Lodge’s decor is. Upon entry, the restaurant resembles a grand cottage rather than a restaurant. Hunting trophies are displayed on the walls, enormous fireplaces hold blazing orange flames, soft holiday lights illuminate the hallways and the entire cabin theme of the restaurant channels the feeling of home.
Spice Xing
Spice things up this season by spending Thanksgiving at Spice Xing. Conveniently located in Rockville Town Center, the contemporary Indian restaurant serves cuisine as lively as Indian culture. With vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, their variety of menu items will satisfy customers of any diet. Dozens of Indian classics from all different spice levels cover the menu, from baked naan to smoking hot baingan bharta. Their rich and flavorful dishes such as their Tikka Masala are seasoned with a variety of herbs and spices. Chicken covered in creamy curry with coconut and chickpeas sauteed and seasoned with spice make an uncommon Thanksgiving meal, but a delicous one nonetheless.
