Richard Montgomery girls’ volleyball took down the Paint Branch Panthers 3 sets to 2 at home on Friday night. The Rockets are 3-1, with three consecutive victories, beating Rockville and Springbrook last week.
The Rockets almost sent Paint Branch home early, but fell 25-23 in the fourth set that leveled the game at 2-2, and forced a final set.
A truly back-and-forth game between the Rockets and Panthers was resolved in the fifth set with a strong 15-9 set win. “It was all the momentum we had […], in the fifth set we all supported each other and lifted each other up when mistakes were made,” senior Abby Hernandez said. “That’s what a team is all about and when we play like a team, we play amazing!”
As a team, the Rockets tightened up and controlled the serve game. “Throughout the match our serving as a team was pretty inconsistent, but once we knew what to do, we got it done,” sophomore Brooke Richman said.
Rockets volleyball will play at BCC on Monday, and look to extend the winning ways in a testing matchup. “I think we are definitely ready for BCC, but we just have to remember to play together,” Hernandez said.
