Why was the choice made to use GoFan to handle ticket sales this year?
Students are already using the platform for sporting events. We did a trial run last month with the senior banquet tickets, and it was successful, so we decided to go ahead and use it for Prom also. This will eliminate the long lines during lunchtime and the bringing of money into school for payments. Many other high schools have also gone this route and have said great things about it.
What are you most excited about for prom this year?
It’s a lot of work leading up to the event, but the night of Prom makes everything worth it. Seeing the students dressed up and having such a great time makes me want to keep doing it year after year.

What is your role in preparing for prom?
As class president, I’m responsible for the prom committee, which chooses the theme and decorations.
Were there any disagreements within SGA about prom plans? How were they resolved?
Yes. The prom committee found it a little difficult to organize themselves and select a theme. Some people were there and requested certain things, like an Epstein Island theme. Obviously, we’re not doing that, and then some themes just didn’t feel formal enough for prom. For example, an under-the-sea and a casino theme were brought up, so it took us a little bit of time to land on a theme that felt both formal, but also enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing.
What changes were made based on feedback from last year’s prom?
One change that we made is that we’re now selling tickets online because it was difficult finding enough people last year to sell tickets who were willing to sell tickets. It just seemed easier to sell them online now, so you know we’re moving towards a more technology-driven space, along with the rest of the world. Innovation, you know, movement change.

What’s your favorite part of prom season so far?
Definitely the memories, because the dance is only one night, but the moments you share with your people stay with you forever.
What do you think makes prom special?
Prom is special because of the memories. It also feels like one of the last times you’ll see some friends before going to college, so you want to enjoy it and not miss them.

Where will you go to take pictures? With whom will you go?
We’re going straight to prom because it’s a school day, we won’t have time to go somewhere else to take pictures, but we might go after the prom.
Are you going to eat dinner with your friends?
We are not going to eat dinner outside since the prom is kinda late. We do not like being outside late, so we are going home.
