Letters to the Editor are a great way to express your opinions on anything that you have read or seen in The Tide! Submissions are open to anyone in our RM community, and you are encouraged to submit a letter to the editor regardless of experience in journalism or writing.
It is important to us that The Tide is an accurate reflection of the diverse voices in our school community, which includes the many students not part of the Tide’s staff. Letters to the Editor help students to easily express their opinions and concerns to a wide group of people, and bring to attention the subjects that you, the readers, find most important. All readers of The Tide are welcome to share their reactions (including agreement, disagreement, anger, etc.) to any of the content published in our digital and print publications. For a few examples, you can look at some of the Letters that have already been published on The Tide website.
There is no specific criteria for formatting or writing quality. The only requirement for a Letter to the Editor is that they are written in a manner that maintains respect for Tide staff and its other readers. Letters will be reviewed by the Tide opinions editors prior to publishing in either the monthly print issue or as an online article, and any submissions that are deemed inappropriate will not be considered for publication.
A link to the google form to submit a letter will be provided at the end of all online articles published by The Tide at thermtide.com. QR codes can also be found on flyers throughout RM, as well as in the Opinions section of every print issue of The Tide. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected].
