RM has had another banner year for sports commits, ending strong with four new commits. Ema Djordjević for Girls Volleyball, Alex Von Behren for Baseball, and Matthew Kuwik and Jonathan Lowinger for Boys Soccer. These rockets have all had different journeys with getting to their final locations, but their accomplishments speak for themselves.
Ema Djordjević, UMBC, Girls Volleyball
“When I talked to the coaches and players at UMBC, I knew they all had the same passion and mind for the sport that I do and it was instantly a yes,” Djordjević said.
A volleyball phenom and an in-school celebrity, Djordjević is on her way to play division I volleyball for UMBC. For Djordjević, the process started around sophomore, year when schools started showing interest. Come June 15th of her sophomore year, she began talking with schools and considering what she wanted to come out of her college experience. “Throughout the process, I was focused on high academic schools since I wanted to push myself the way I have been throughout high school with balancing IB and sports,” Djordjević said. The commitment process was not an easy one for Djordjević and took months of hard work and dedication. With so many different parts happening at once, one of Djordjević’s biggest challenges was balancing continuing to work on her volleyball skills and keeping up with recruitment.
“Some advice I would give is to always be the person who works the hardest. Always be the last one in the gym, always get the optional reps, always watch game film, always do your workouts, and lift outside of practice, etc. When you add the little things to your gameplay, you get little advantages above others every time you increase your skill or mindset or athleticism, even if it seems minimal in the moment,” Djordjević said.
Matthew Kuwik, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Boys Soccer
Kuwik’s played for RM soccer for the last three years, helping the team climb they’re way to the state finals this year. Kuwik aspires to be a professional soccer player, and playing division III for St. Mary’s College of Maryland is one step closer to reaching his goal. Throughout his three years playing for RM, Kuwik has racked up his accomplishments, including making the All-Met First team, All-State First team, All-County First Team, and All-Division.

Alex Von Behren, McDaniel College, Baseball
Von Behren just committed to playing Division III baseball for McDaniel College. Just recently, VB was nominated for the Maryland High School baseball player of the week for the week of 4/28/2025. His shutout and striking out fifteen batters is what put him up in the running. Von Behren was also named division pitcher of the year for the 2024 MoCo Division 3 All Division Selections.
Jonathan Lowinger, Marywood University, Boys Soccer
Jonathan Lowinger’s on track to playing division III men’s soccer at Marywood University. Lowinger’s been a part of RM boys soccer for the last three years, and much like Kuwik he’s made some noise. Being a captain this year, making All Division 4A South and All County, Lowinger’s efforts have paid off.
