Past the lamp posts, library and main office along Richard Montgomery High School’s largest hallway known as Main Street, you’ll find only one classroom, separate from the rest. Behind the doors of the lone Room 140 lives the production studio. Nearly every day of school during our second period, students involved in the RMBC class come to the studio to provide RM’s staff and students with the daily morning announcements. The RMBC crew of just seven students devotes the majority of their class time planning and preparing for the show that airs during the last 10 minutes of the period. Each morning, students across all grade levels and staff in all positions tune into RMBC for the morning announcements live on YouTube. Covering topics from sports events, club meetings, lunch activities and college application help for students, RMBC serves as a vital source of daily information for the staff and student body. Along with this, RMBC doesn’t shy away from being unique, catering to student’s humor each morning with jokes and funny photos in addition to the news. With this school year being his first year leading the class, teacher Mr. Andrew Potvin has transitioned smoothly into his new position, fostering a community of students in RMBC to bring their ideas and interests to the show.
