As the school day rolls on, it’s easy to get swept up in the hustle and bustle of hallways filled with chatter and the lively energy of Main Street. However, RM has its own cozy nooks that offer a warm embrace for those looking to escape the noise, recharge and savor a few moments of peace.
One such beloved retreat is the Ceramics room. It’s a favorite spot for many, where creativity blossoms in a calm environment. “It’s really chill, and no one really bothers you,” freshman Maria Silva said. This laid-back vibe makes it the perfect place to unwind, allowing students to step away from the midday commotion.
Just a few steps away lies the greenhouse on the third floor, a hidden oasis where nature and tranquility blossom. Bathed in natural light, it invites students to pause and breathe. “There’s rarely anyone ever there,” Silva said. With its lush greenery and soothing atmosphere, the greenhouse is an ideal spot for students to soak in some calm before diving back into their studies.
For a touch of coziness and a side of warmth, the corner staircases have become another cherished spot for students looking to escape. “It feels separate from the classrooms and instructional spaces, so it gives you a nice break,” senior Alexandra Turk said. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, these well-lit spots create a sense of comfort, allowing students to gather their thoughts or simply enjoy a moment of solitude.
Of course, the great outdoors remains a popular choice for students seeking a break. Tables near the cafeteria exit and by the library are frequently used by students to enjoy fresh air and immerse themselves in a relaxed atmosphere. “You don’t really get disturbed in these spots, and you’re not around people unless you want to be,” sophomore Christa Green said. With the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, these spots provide the perfect background for either quiet reflection or lighthearted conversations with friends.
These comforting hideouts really help students recharge during lunch. “If you’re a person who gets anxious about being alone, these spots can calm you down and distract you from your worries,” Green said.
Just a few moments spent in one of these cozy corners can refresh a student’s spirit, giving them a little slice of calm to carry through the rest of their day. “Sometimes all you need is some peace and quiet before you go back into a loud atmosphere,” Silva said.
