Learning about cybersecurity in schools is crucial in today’s digital world. As technology becomes more integrated into daily life, the risks associated with cyber threats also increase. Educating students on cybersecurity not only helps protect their personal information but also prepares them to navigate and contribute to a secure digital environment.
“Now in our modern days, it is definitely an issue and it is only getting more important as we get older so I think that we need to learn about it,” junior Sahil Sahasrabudhe said.
It’s important to teach students about cybersecurity in schools to raise awareness about the dangers present online. Students must understand how to protect their personal data, recognize phishing attempts and use secure passwords. Early education in these areas can significantly reduce the risk of cyber-attacks and identity theft.
“I’ve heard about people getting hacked online and people’s bank accounts getting hacked,” junior Sarah Candila said.
Moreover, cybersecurity education can spark interest in technology and lead to future career opportunities. The demand for cybersecurity professionals is growing rapidly, and schools can play a pivotal role in preparing students for these roles. By learning about cybersecurity, students can explore various career paths, such as ethical hacking, cybersecurity analysis and information security management.
“I think people, if they’re living in the United States and it’s an issue where they are, they need to know about it,” junior Cayla Benson said.
Integrating cybersecurity into school curriculums is essential for personal safety and professional growth. It equips students with the knowledge to protect themselves and opens doors to a wide range of career opportunities in a field that is vital for our digital future.
“The knowledge of cybersecurity is crucial in today’s world because of the advancements of technology becoming very specialized. You never know what can happen to your accounts or social media platforms, which we need to learn about so we know how to handle any situation properly,” Candila said.
