Molly Estrada’s IB Environmental Systems & Societies class enacts a predator vs. prey simulation to model their learning on October 4, 2023. The game involves students using various utensils, like chopsticks, forks and straws, to “hunt” foods of varying sizes, such as marshmallows, macaroni and split peas. “The goal of that activity was to have students… get to experience and be able to discuss species competition, which we had learned a couple days before in notes,” Mrs. Estrada said. “Now we actually get to act it out.”
