Mr. Patrick Wainwright speeds to the door and locks it as an announcement alerting students and staff to a lockdown drill is heard throughout school. All MCPS schools are required to conduct lockdown and shelter in place drills in order to prepare for any emergency situations that might occur. “Unfortunately, that is the reality of the world. Sure, it would be nice to put our heads in the sand, but we have to do something. Maybe it’s not ideal but it’s something and it’s better than nothing.” Mr. Wainwright said.
