Newly appointed Freshman Administrator Ms. Sara Baudry was twenty five years old when she met Principal Ms. Alicia Deeny. The two were next door neighbors at Takoma Park Middle School, where Ms. Baudry taught history and Ms. Deeny taught languages.

Ms. Baudry was born and raised in a rural town in South Louisiana, consisting of just five thousand people. She attended Louisiana State University as an education and social studies major. “[After] working at a sleepaway camp up in New Hampshire, I realized I really love teaching and I really like sports,” Ms. Baudry said.

She had previously worked in a diverse range of school communities before settling at RM. Her teaching career began in Woodbridge, Virginia in Prince William County as both a United States history teacher and varsity softball coach.

After a few years, she moved into Montgomery County and into Takoma Park Middle School. Ms. Baudry served as a social studies teacher for twelve years before transitioning into an administrative role. “At Takoma Park, I became an eighth grade team leader. You’re still a teacher, but you’re supporting…interdisciplinary teachers in the same grade level,” she said. “I really enjoyed building a process, seeing the outcomes and collaborating with adults to help kids.”

From there, Ms. Baudry became an assistant principal at Northwood High School. She oversaw ninth graders for eight years, developing programs to ease their high school transition. However, after devoting the entirety of her career in the MCPS down-county Silver Spring area, she felt it was time to progress to a different area of the county and initiate new connections. “There’s always something new to learn,” Ms. Baudry said. “I looked forward to [working] with Ms. Deeny again, and of course have heard really positive things about Richard Montgomery.”

As the RM freshman administrator, Ms. Baudry acts as the first line of contact between the school and freshman parents. She also greets students, checks identifications, and monitors community outreach. “I feel we are lucky to have Ms. Baudry here at RM. She has been an asset to the team and is always willing to lend a helping hand to us all,” Sophomore Administrator Mr. Kevin Jefferson said via email. “She takes a genuine interest in everyone and [gets] to know each person she works with.”

Ms. Baudry makes efforts to build connections with the incoming freshmen. Her priority is to support students in making the most of their high school experience. “[Ms. Baudry] seems nice,” freshman Bartek Czaja said. “Yes, [I would feel comfortable asking her for help if I needed it].”

Outside of school days, students can expect to see Ms. Baudry and her three young boys at RM sporting eventsas they all share a passion for sports. “I think you will be seeing [my boys] around a lot,” she said. “They’re very interested in coming to see the Rockets.”
