Photo of the Day: IB Physics takes an electric approach to learning

Junior Paris Ye takes a hands-on approach to the electricity unit in IB Physics. Mr. Michael Willard directed the class in touching an electrically charged sphere, to witness the properties of static shock on their hair. The class also held hands to see the conductive levels of their bodies, and passed around a charged potato in a game of electric shock hot potato. “Learning a science like physics that requires robust conceptual understanding is extremely hard,” Ye said, who experienced an unusual hair day after participating in the experiment. “But these experiments help connect our real world knowledge… to the conceptual side, which helps our overall understanding and ability to learn.”
