Join the Tide’s new podcast team! Apply by December 7.

Arts Editors

The Tide is launching its podcast, The TidePod!! We hope to release news briefs every two weeks and podcasts specific to other sections (Features, Opinions, Arts, La Marea, Sports) every two weeks as well. We hope these will attract more people and allow students to discuss topics in a conversational, casual manner. For example, this will be especially interesting for the Opinions section, as we hope to hold moderated debates/discussions over certain issues between either teachers or students.

As a result, we are looking for a collaborative, creative, and dedicated team of 5-10 students who will help host, manage, write, and edit these episodes and release them on a tight and consistent schedule. If you are interested, please complete this application by Friday, December 7! The roles are further explained on the form and are as follows:

  • Host: Be comfortable talking to both students and staff members! In order to learn more about how to host an effective podcast, you will also be expected to listen to a few on a regular basis. You will also have to research the topics or people at hand beforehand.
  • Podcast Editor: Although previous experience is not necessary, it would be extremely helpful for you. It you can’t stay after school for meetings or aren’t as comfortable talking to others, this may be the role for you!
  • Managing Team: Find stories, communicate with various sections, confirm schedules with teachers, be present at certain recording sessions.
  • Script Writer: Write interview questions, write and edit news briefs, conduct research.

Please note that this application is not exclusive to students already on the Tide staff. However, it is limited to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Being a member of this team will require a lot of time and effort—please do not apply if you are unable to make weekly or biweekly meetings to conduct interviews or meet with the team. If you have time constraints, please make note of them in your application.

If you have any questions, feel free to email the Tide Arts editors at [email protected] or contact Emily Chen, Isabella Levine, or Christine Zhu directly!
