Jordyn Gershoni

Senior Jordyn Gershoni is an active member of RM’s drama club and has served in cast and crew positions in the RM musicals and One Acts for the past three years. Gershoni has been involved in many aspects of the drama club, but she has never been a director before.

For the 2020 One Acts Festival, she and Becca Howlett are directing “Check Please”, a show that follows two characters as they go on a series of comically bad blind dates.  “As a director, I am able to decide how I want certain things to look and then I get to watch them come to life,” she said. Being a director has offered her a new perspective in the process of putting on a show. “It is definitely difficult to make decisions and be [confident] with them, but having a co-director to…bounce ideas off of each other is a huge relief,” Gershoni said.

Theater is all about collaboration, especially with a show life “Check Please”; the show requires two actors to play six characters each, so the directors have to work closely with the costumes, set decoration, lighting, sound, and other technical crews to create an interesting show that makes sense to the audience. “I never realized how much work actually goes into making a play. From the set to the costumes, to the tech, to the actual acting [the directors] are part of it all,” she said.
